Jeffrey Mulholland, MD

Dr. Mulholland earned his undergraduate and medical degrees with honors from the University of Virginia, followed by an internship in general surgery and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia. He was then granted a one-year fellowship in Sports Medicine at the renowned Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in California.

This fellowship allowed Dr. Mulholland to sharpen his skills of the treatment of injured athletes, both from a rehabilitative and a surgical standpoint. He served for six years as team physician for Pittsburgh’s professional soccer team, The Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Working with professional athletes, a high pressure situation where a successful and speedy recovery can result in wins or prolong a career, allowed him to focus on the rapid diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries. He currently cares for several area high school and college teams. Dr. Mulholland is the team physician for Quaker Valley High School athletes and serves as a sports medicine consultant for several local colleges and summer ProCamps.

Treating conditions that result from overuse, such as rotator cuff tendinitis, as well as acute injuries such as shoulder injuries or ligament tears of the knee, he strives to “get the patients back to their previous level of activity.” He emphasizes the use of arthroscopy in his practice, as it allows for a more rapid recovery. Dr. Mulholland is the team physician for Quaker Valley High School athletes and Pittsburgh Aviators Hockey, and serves as a sports medicine consultant for several local colleges.

He and his wife live with their three children in Northwest Pittsburgh.
